Machine Gun Kelly’s latest album is called Tickets to My Downfall, but its self-deprecating title didn’t stop it from reaching the top. After making a switch from hip-hop to pop-punk, he finally managed to score his very first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Tickets to My Downfall was released on September 25th, and it marked the departure from his usual rap sound. Machine Gun Kelly described it as a pop-punk record and told Howard Stern it wasn’t a genre switch but a way to “add on to the multiple things [he’s] already done anyway.”

This album earned 126,000 equivalent album units during its first week on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming his first LP to reach no. 1 spot. He entered the top 10 with his previous four albums and reached no. 1 at Billboard’s R&B and Rap charts with General Admission in 2015.

Tickets to My Downfall was proceeded by singles “Bloody Valentine”, “Concert for Aliens”, and “My Ex’s Best Friend” featuring Blackbear. This isn’t the only collaboration on this record – Machine Gun Kelly also recorded new songs with Halsey, Trippie Redd, and produced the entire album alongside Blink-182’s Travis Barker.
